👉 Material Toughness plays critical role in the applications where parts might be subjected to impact or cyclic loads which could lead to excessive stresses & failure of the parts.
👉 Technically, Toughness is the total energy absorbed by the material before it fails or fractures.
👉 Material Toughness could be measured in terms of energy absorbed until fracture and is represented by area under the stress-strain curve until material fractures.
